08 Aug Here comes ‘Al’…
Today marks the second week of rehearsals for Al Bowlly’s Croon Manifesto with performances taking place on Thursday & Friday this week. Join us for an evening of theatre, live music, singing, and dancing…
The show features Jake Oldershaw (from Untied Artists) as Al Bowlly, who alongside performer Nick Tigg makes up the professional cast. Originally devised and performed back in 2009, this week see’s the show re-imagined working with the local community around Forest Arts Centre in Walsall. The Youth Theatre will be supporting the performance by acting, dancing, & singing during the show and alongside musical director George Stuart there will be community musicians in the band.
Al Bowlly’s Croon Manifesto will be a celebration of Bowlly’s career highlighting his musical talent and colourful private life. Featuring plenty of toe-tapping, sing-a-long tunes such as Goodnight Sweetheart, You ought a be in Pictures, and Shout for Happiness. The set design and costume is 1920’s chic; art deco, bold, red & gold, and glamorous, so you can truly feel part of the big band era.
Over the next few days rehearsals will see all the elements of the show coming together to become the final production we will see on Thursday.
All performances will take place at: Forest Arts Centre, Hawbush Road, Leamore, Walsall, WS3 1AG. Why not come along and join in.
