Fol Espoir @ the Glasshouse Arts Centre

We had another great show on Friday promoted by Glasshouse Arts Centre…

Winston On the Run gave an insight into the life of Winston Churchill before he became the legendary leader we all know; trapped out in Africa during the Boar War and ‘Wanted’ dead or alive.

The one man show created by Fol Espoir was superbly performed by Freddie Machin who kept the audience on the edge of their seats throughout the show. I have to admit I wasn’t sure what to expect from Winston on the Run, I know little about the historical figure in question and it seemed on the surface quite an ambitious piece of theatre. Luckily Fol Espoir had it sorted combining great storytelling with simple yet effective use of the space (and hopefully nobody was too disappointed that it didn’t feature Bradley from Eastenders).

It was also great to see the Glasshouse Arts Centre after its 1.4m refurbishment creating a fantastic new versatile studio theatre for future touring shows.
